Given that Frank hardly lacks money and might very well be interested in taking a position within CFG in some capacity in due time It´s impossible to know if there´s a Gentlemens agreement of some kind.

I don't know what he said. All I know is he mocked grieving Americans hours after 9/11. I know that whatever he did caused him to get thrown out of a hotel bar. I know whatever he did lead to him getting fined. I know what he did caused employees of the hotel to be totally disgusted by him. And I'm pretty sure he was under the influence of alcohol because HE chose to imbibe alcohol.

And yes, to mock my country and my fellow citizens during one of the most tragic moments in our history, affords me the right and privilege to never forget what he did.

Lastly, I never said I couldn't forgive him. Re-read one of my previous two posts and you'll see what he needs to do (in my opinion) to earn my forgiveness. But again, I will never forget.

City fan here who's been browsing the forum for a bit but felt obliged to sign up cos of this debate.

Personally of the opinion that Lampard isn't a bad bloke. He might have made a drunken mistake when he was in his early twenties, yes, but I actually consider Lampard one of the brighter, more intelligent footballers. I'd go as far as to say I like him. He seems intelligent and articulate.

Gained a lot of respect for him when he rang a radio phone in show who had criticised him and how he'd dealt with his family. He comes across as quite an honourable man.

Yes, he may have been drunk and obnoxious on one very bleak day but he was very young and it was very unfortunate. If you can all honestly say that you've never done anything stupid (which is all it was) then fair enough. Don't hold one drunken debauched moment, which was most likely led by the scumbag that is John Terry too, as anything more than it was - it wasn't a personal direct attack on all things America i'm sure. It was just stupid.

Just be excited to have players such as David Villa and Lampard rocking up at your club. It's absolutely wonderful. I'm personally incredibly intrigued by the prospect. I presume Kries will take a few of the better city academy players too. Watching the likes of Thierry Ambrose, Brandon Barker and Seko Fofana (if any of them go) playing alongside established players like them and no doubt the pick of the MLS will be incredibly exciting.

Thanks for sharing, we are excited to have any talented player, but being how directly this city was involved in that horrible day, you can understand the sensitivity a good amount of us will have regarding anything directed at it. I wasn't there and I don't know the details, other then it was drinking induced situation.

Possibly a positive that can come out of it, is he can mentor some of the younger players that will be on the roster and maybe they can learn from his life lessons and mistakes, so he can help them outside the stadium as well as inside.

I do remember reading he would have a bonus laden contract. But just because a contract is bonus laden doesn't mean he won't be a DP.

For example: what if he has a base salary of $2 million, but it jumps up to $5 million if he is named to the best XI? Or he makes more based on the team's success, or his number of appearances, etc.

You can fill in whatever numbers you like, but I don't think because his contract is bonus laden it means he's not a DP.

In fact, logically speaking, it should mean the opposite. I mean, let's say his base salary, pre-bonus, is a sub-DP wage: $300,000 or something like that.

Well what happens if he earns his bonuses? If he goes above the non-DP league maximum (currently something like $400,000) well then, he'll have to count as a DP!

This year, the cap charge for DPs is $387,500, which was 12.5% of the salary cap.

If someone's cap his is above $387,500, then they count as a DP, unless their cap hit is bought down below that number using allocation money.

So the only way Lampard wouldn't have a sizable cap hit is if he somehow signs for a bunch less than $400,000 per year.

(Of course all this is complicated by the fact that we don't know what the rules will be for next year, since the Collective Bargaining Agreement will expire. I think last time the cap jumped 10%, though players might push for more, along with a big push for more freedom [i.e. free agency]. The number of DPs wasn't part of the last CBA though.)

Wait a sec, I can't follow you yet. So it is possible some players don't count as DPs in the beginning of the season, but if bonusses kick in then they get raised to DP level?!? What if a club is maxed out on DP slots already then?
