Agree, I think college-graduate soccer players are starting to realize the 16 and 17 year olds that are coming up through academies are better than they are and have a shit ton more potential. Also, they have a backup plan with their degrees and such. Like you said, they may be receiving a better offer vs. their current MLS salary, a better deal over a longer time, or even both (better short & long term). I wouldn't be surprised if TMac pulls something similar this year or next.MLS salaries are so low they are now losing players to the general work force. Think about it. Stanford degree, 24 years old. Being in MLS doesn't really translate with the ladies like in the NBA or NFL. His current salary is only $122k. Maybe he got an offer that beats that with a nice benefit package and in a career he has a passion for. Some careers you also don't want to start in your 30's, so it was time to face reality.
