Man I can't wait to see how the team plays after getting time to all gel, so many new faces on the attacking side of the ball, hope it all works out for us!
The fact that it's a loan makes this potentially interesting? Or am I looking too much into how we didn't sign him/transfer him from Uruguay?
You can also call it a bridge and that sounds a lot better even though it's basically the same thing. Of course, this assumes he fulfills that role at all and does it well. But if he provides a solid backup Maxi presence and 2021 and plays as our primary attacking 10 in 2022 while we work on a longer term solution, I'm fine with that. Hell, maybe he's just the Maxi backup for 2021 and next year we sign the Maxi replacement and just let Santi play more on the wing.Maybe because the mothership wants to see if he'll be Girona or ManCity material and getting him from Torque would be easier than MLS? (totally guessing).
but yea - a 1.5 year loan doesn't sound like finding a maxi replacement to me.. more like a bandaid.
Also, I was wrong, though the announcement delay still makes no sense to me.

Me December 31, 2020:B U L L I S H on this season now
TBF that was a more general take than specific to NYCFC but it is holding up pretty well regardless.I am completely and viscerally optimistic about 2021.
Still getting used to this new pattern where players come to the US before they get their work visa, but now we've seen Magno and Rodriguez do it. And to your point, I think the media team might have been on vacation last week also. And it was always routine for us to announce players and wait 1-2 weeks for them to show up and get the first promo interview. I don't know why they think we couldn't deal with a similar wait this time. But they have their reasons.Given the promotional video is of him already at the training facility (as with Talles), it seems they just wanted to get him in the country before making the announcement.
I wouldn't say right now that Santi is going to start over Maxi. But if Maxi continues to play like he did at LAFC and Santi starts to gel with the squad, then maybe he should start over Maxi.now the question is how many games it will take for our new shiny toys to gel and get in sync with everyone else.
do we think santi is going to start over maxi? or pretty much be his rotation/injury backup? the way maxi's been playing, i kinda want to see santi get more minutes sooner rather than later, but maxi is still the DP and i can't tell if santi is even a u-22? anybody know?
Probably because it was taking a lot longer than 1-2 weeks for them to show up.Still getting used to this new pattern where players come to the US before they get their work visa, but now we've seen Magno and Rodriguez do it. If Santi took 4 weeks to get here do you think they would have held the announcement that long?Probably because it was taking a lot longer than 1-2 weeks for them to show up.
I am very concerned about the level of optimism on this forum now. We tend to, by my scientific memory standards, perform opposite of the general sentiment on this site.
