Away - 07/30 Toronto

The moment you have all waited for is here. I've made my decision on which bad choice I would make to replace Herrera in Midfield.

I had multiple bad options, namely Michael Lopez, pirlo's revenant, stertzer and Tommy mcnamara. I even considered Harrison at CM, leaving, who at right wing? Oh yeah, no one since we have no backups.

The answer I have decided upon is:
Tommy McNamara.

That will mean more than double workload for Ring. I'd rather go for Pirlo, because unlike McNamara, he can keep the possession, although Ring would have to be a guard even for him.

Everyone, PV is saving Pirlo for the playoffs. Teams won't know what hit them when Pirlo starts and drops dimes everywhere.

actually it is a sad thing if Pirlo, once considered one of the best midfielders to ever play the game, can't beat out Lopez or Tommy Mac. Or it's a testament to Father Time and damn, the size of that cliff that Pirlo fell off must be the size of the Grand Canyon.

I don't think it's a sad thing. It's not he can't beat out Lopez or McNamara, it's just that those player have different abilities than Pirlo ever did. We're a play the ball on the ground, built up, attack minded offense. We need players with legs that can run (or reasonably run in term of McNamara). Pirlo never had that.
Quietest I've ever seen this place.

And before the biggest game of the year
You want the hype, you've got to bring it yourself.

That is one huge worry I have today, Ring is going to have to do double defensive duty and is one yellow from suspension (vs. Red Bulls next week). Does he let the player go buy and risk losing the game to play next week at home? If I'm Vieira, I tell him that.

I'd instruct Ring that under no circumstances is he to get a yellow today. And I think Vieria may have just done that.

From my understanding there is the seed of genuine hatred between the two clubs, both on the fan and institutional level. I think he values the NJRB game more than we give him credit for.

If I'm Vieira, I'm telling the other 9 field players to make their plays so Ring doesn't have to recklessly stop an attack. They played great team defense last week with every player collapsing in the ball carrier - there's no reason they can't do it again at full strength. But even so, Vieira should tell Ring not to take any Professional fouls - trust the defenders and Johnson to make the play when the ball gets to them.

Maxi Moralez and Ethan White are also one yellow away from suspension.

I'd tell both of them not to take any Professional fouls today too. All too often guys take a card because they can - it's not that they need to, as evidence of how few times players get a second yellow in a given game. Biggest issue is that the team comes out early with their collective heads screwed on tight and don't give up a cheap, early goal - the type we've become accustomed to spotting our opponents.

I'm sorry but if we lose this Vieira will have proven he has zero competence. He better have spent a long time thinking about tactics.
