White and RJ starting... may as well not even watch, its gonna be a shit show in the back.

ETA: and if Mikey Lopez gets the start over Pirlo im gonna be calling for heads

Loosing Sweat hurts especially since his social media posts made it seem like he was ready to go. It's also interesting that the Khiry 4-6 weeks time table never changes. Likely just an artifact of them never updating it but still discouraging the never see it change, despite the general negativity on the forums about him we could really use him right now.
Never sure how accurate those really are. Chanot is supposed to be out 4-6 weeks, and yet he doesn't even show up on the injury report and is supposed to be starting.

Couple of weeks ago they had Rodney Wallace in the projected starting XI even though he was away at the Gold Cup.

Yeah I would wait for the NYCFC injury report to come out. Lewis will start. Wouldn't be surprised if Lopez starts in the midfield or at fullback. PV has rewarded performances before.

I would not take Sweat's placement on the injury list as dispositive. I have no special knowledge about Sweat, but people listed as OUT have been known to play

I hardly think this is an authoritative source on who is available, but it is a bad sign.

I swear, MLS is letting the middle school interns write these....

"I doubt Jozy Altidore's going to play much at all, but you know Michael Bradley's going 90, and Justin Morrow's going to be back, and Sebastian Giovinco wants goals. The last time NYCFC faced (most of) that group they wilted.

This is a gigantic test for the Cityzens. We'll get to see if they're just a good team that plays pretty soccer, or if they're something more than that.

I'll also be watching: Alex Ring had a great first four months but has sort of quietly regressed to the mean in July. He'll need to be at his best in this one."

I liked it better when he had good things to say about NYCFC. Also, when did Ring regress to the mean? Did I miss that?

I have a suspicion (completely unfounded) that we could see Chanot play. If there was ever a match where we engage in gamesmanship, it's this one. In the past, Chanot has bounced back quickly from knocks, so maybe that last 12 days was enough? That said, I wouldn't be surprised either to see Brillant deputized for the match, although him marking Gio scares me a bit.

Dude is just saying what he thinks.

I happen to think he's wrong and not taking our gritty performance against Chicago into account but these two omissions do not IMO a douchebag make.

You could always put him on ignore :joy:

ETA: I do think we have something yet to prove against Toronto. I just don't agree with his reasoning.

Injury Report
NYCFC

OUT - Khiry Shelton, Ronald Matarrita, Maxime Chanot, Miguel Camargo, Rodney Wallace, James Sands

Toronto FC*

OUT - Steven Beitashour, Benoit Cheyrou

Sweat available according to nycfc.com
Forgive my ignorance, but are these reports binding? IOW, is Chanot (for instance ;)) rendered ineligible by virtue of us reporting that he's injured?

The lineup I'd like to see. Although I think we can see T-Mac on the wing and/or Lopez in the midfield.

View attachment 7314

Bench:
Johansen, TMac, White, Lopez, Okoli, Kwame, Stertzer
I kinda wanna see:

Villa - Harrison
Maxi
Sweat - Pirlo - Ring - Lewis
Callens - Brillant - White
Johnson

... In a 3-5-2 that can shift into a 4-3-3 with ...

Lewis - Villa - Harrison
Pirlo - Maxi - Ring
Sweat - Callens - Brillant - White
Johnson

... Just to confuse the fuck outta TFC.

I'm inspired by the 4-3-2 we saw against Chicago as a sign of Vieira's flexibility and ability to teach his players various systems. I also think that Vanney has out-coached Vieira more often than not and would like to see Vieira go into a game with a solid plan B.

When the guy is a defacto analyst for the league's website, he shouldn't change directions like a flag in a seaside gale depending on what his personal narrative wants to be. One day he hates us, then loves us, then says we need to prove we're not a team that only plays pretty soccer (or whatever his quote was). For him to not take into account our better run of form than TFC, including a match against Chicago where we punched them in the face while being a man down and still playing pretty soccer is DBag level writing.

I do typically ignore him unless somebody posts the link, and then it's like a car wreck everybody rubbernucks. There isn't a bit of him that's worth my time and yet I can't help but read his drivel once I've clicked the link.

According to Alex Callens, NYCFC is at Newark airport now to go to Toronto. Doesn't this seem late?

I'm actually a little bummed about this match. I've always wanted to go to Toronto, have never been, and it just didn't occur to me to head up there for the weekend to go to this match in person. Darn it. $200 round trip flight. Next year, I guess. Who's with me?

LOL, looks like ESPN has finally decided which team matters here in New York.
