NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2021

does anyone know of the cheapest and legal way to watch live nycfc games. if not at least full replays? am i stuck with VPN and espn+?

loaded question there Nelson. It really depends on what you already have and why.

There are a couple good options.
1) (what you already have) VPN+espn+ is a solid option with cost depending on your VPN choice and whether or not you bundle with disney+/hulu.

2) Something Gotham Gator (I think?) suggested, which is to get a basic TV and Internet bundle from your cable company. Keep your streaming services through the internet but have the basic TV to watch games on YES when they're on. The extra cost of the bundle should be similar to or less than the cost of a good VPN. But you save the cost of ESPN+ if you are subscribing to that only for NYCFC games.

I already pay for hulu, so i might as well get this bundle and it looks like i need to get that VPN then.
The first option would be best as i can watch other MLS games in case.

I wish there were a dedicated service for nycfc. it would have been nice....

i use ExpressVPN and VPN from the DC server with ESPN+ and it has been working for me since I started doing the VPN/ESPN+ combo.

he was in our Academy. We tried to sign him as a HG and the league said no. So we traded for him.

He played for an affiliate club before going to college. If he was in our official academy we would have no problem signing him as a hg.

Anyway.. it's just splitting hairs. Your point of not having any truly successful young signings holds true. Let's hope thiago and malte can start a new trend.

Relative to established old guys like Pirlo, Lampard and Villa? Let’s see, Maxi, Tinny, Heber, and Ring. They all worked our pretty well. We certainly got more points out of them.

I'd say the 2019 season was a fantastic season if considering the first round playoff exit. That team consisted of all NYCFC-specific signings and one homegrown.

has been working great and i've been using them since late 2019 season. i get about 100mbps of my actual 300mbps internet, which is enough for streaming. some of their servers are blocked, but I have had 100% success with the DC server since I started using them.

I’m using as well and it has worked well. Sometimes I need to switch locations but have always found a way to make it work.

Age aside, one of the paradoxes of this team is that the top tier signings (effectively DPs) have mostly failed (or merely satisfied base level expectations), while the bargain basement to high-mid-level signings have largely succeeded at higher than expected percentages. Maxi is probably the only high level signing who exceeded expectations. Villa arguably exceeded regular season hopes with long term performance but never delivered in knockout play (the behavioral issues being important but not relevant here). Mitri was good but we expected more. Everyone else has been a clear disappointment.
