Wow, so they're doing 29 games and 23 of them are live on YES. That's better than previous years, and pretty good all things considered.

Yeah, none of the streaming TV networks have YES (Hulu, Sling, FuboTV, YouTube, etc.)

YES Network really should offer a digital package for access to the YES App and all lives games on it.

I wonder if they're allowed to based on their contracts with the cable providers. Paramount and Peacock allow you to subscribe for extra content, but games on NBCSN, for example, are still streamed for free on the NBC Sports app. YES isn't offering extra content, so they may not be able to offer their stuff straight out of the app in that way without upsetting their cable contracts. It would be great if they could though, obviously.

When I first dropped cable two years ago, I kept one cable box with the most basic lineup because it came in a package with phone and Internet that was cheaper than just phone and Internet alone. I just redid my package to lower the rate and kept the same lineup.

I don’t even use the cable box, which is in storage, but the subscription gives me access to the YES Network via its app, and I can use that on my Roku boxes, computers, tablets, etc.

I saw someone on Twitter saying that it's "impossible" to get the YES Network, which is just silly.

Also, NYCFC is not the only team in this league that occasionally gets its games moved to an overflow channel or online only because of conflicts. This just comes with the territory of being on a sports network that also televises baseball. There are no good options for TV coverage of soccer in this city because of how many sports teams there are. This is six games out of 29. We're getting bumped off YES in favor of one of the biggest teams in the country, and our games that are only on the app are still available on your TV as long as you have an internet-connected device. It's really not a big deal.

And by the way, just to make my point about other teams:

Sporting KC has a ton of their games on an overflow channel. LAFC isn't even on TV. Those are two of the biggest teams in the league. Minnesota has been on what used to be FOX Sports North, so they would have had lots of conflicts as well. I believe Columbus is in the same boat.

It's fair to complain that NYCFC games aren't on YES's overflow channel, but this idea that putting them on a cable channel is hiding them or making them inaccessible is kind of silly. Almost every team in American sports is on a local sports channel. If it works for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Blackhawks, it should work for NYCFC. If you want to watch locally televised sports in any city, you need to pay for the local sports networks.

I will also admit that many MLS teams have their games on an over-the-air channel, but obviously that's not going to happen with NYCFC since they're part owned by the Yankees. And considering the miniscule ratings NYCFC does, I can't imagine channel 9 or channel 11 would want to air any of these games like they do with some Yankees and Mets games.

I do kind of think we are underestimating this team right now. There are certainly holes, but I'm starting to wonder if we're going to be better than people think. We're obviously not favorites to win anything this year, but I wonder if we're not going to be more in the conversation than we realize.

if i really really want to be positive on this team, is that the midfield defense looks good. Not amazing or top of the line but good. Yes even with the LB position we have options there. with CB we can have option with sands there too. morales can potentially be key.

upfront we got a new signing and one potentially coming in June ( santi). i think they may make santi a DP based on his fee since the U22 DP is used with thiago. still, that leaves another DP spot open for the summer.

the real question to ask is why losing Ring/Matarrita/Mitrita turns this team from a “top MLS team over the last half decade” to bottom half of MLS/8th place team which is where about most pundits are placing them right now.

The goal is to win! No we haven't won in the playoffs, but NYCFC has the best regular-season record since 2016. That's a good thing!

"It's our only selling point" -- it's a great selling point! The only selling point better is actually winning trophies, and we know that the playoffs are more about luck than anything else.

I don't agree with this at all. Is there luck involved? of course. There's always some luck in tournament like competitions. But in my experience, the most organized, prepared team is the one that wins. That means physically and mentally. We fell short mentally time and after time. That's what screwed us over. Not bad luck.

We save ourselves from wanting to rip our hair out every game, but with no trophies or even coming CLOSE to a trophy, it just doesn't seem like much of a big deal. it'd be a different story if we are consistently making a run for the cup - there is hope every year bolstered by our consistently good record. alas - that is not our story.

We have not gone deep into the playoffs ever, but we have made a run at the Cup every single season. The fact we fall on our faces doesn't lessen that. There are 20 teams in this league that would kill to switch places with where we've been the last five seasons.
