Salary Cap Available For Another Big Signing

Wilson Palacios isn't signing with the Union and he could possibly be a decent pickup. I don't know anything about him at all except he played for Stoke.

He was solid on Spurs a few years back. Strong, can rip a long range shot in every once in a while, but prone to a lot of stupid fouls, takes a lot of dives and I'm sure by now is probably not as fast as he used to be. Definitely could enforce in the midfield though.

which means they probably took a look at this wages, their new wage bill in the Championship and said, we can't afford you.

He wasn't one of the top earners in Hull, even though being an important player.
But whatever! A great player and a move to MLS feels possible.

I said his name a couple of times on other threads, but Roman Torres would be a great signing. IDK if anyone has ever seen him play for panama. Big guy, plays kinda like olave. He and facey as a center back tandem would be exceptional.

According to the NY Post the signing of Pirlo will still leave $200,000-$300,000 of cap space for NYCFC.

According to K Kjbert and other media outlets NYCFC is actively pursuing other players at this very moment.

I wonder how they arrived at the 200-300k cap space number. NYC will definitely need to start cutting players if they sign beyond Pirlo.

I count 29 currently on the roster. Minus 2 on disable list (John & Taylor) plus Iraola and Angelino get us back to 29. Now its possible Fitz might be a season long loan and Williams might also be on the disabled list soon so that drops us back to 27. Plus Pirlo we are at 28 and the roster limit.

The transfer window opens up the possibility to move players across the league. Something to consider as well. We are pretty stacked at midfield with addition of Pirlo and lampard.
I would actually prefer they sign a forward so we are not depended solely on villa. Other than him it's 2 rookies and a clumsy veteran (nemec)

I guess we are counting Mullins as a rookie too? But yeah its seems we have not been worried as much here with Villa in the lineup. I wish Mullins would show more 2014 ability. I would imagine that Dunn would go before Grabavoy or Velasquez. McNamara has proven that he belongs in the 18. So has Ballouchy.

Still having a full complement of 28 players with 3 DPs with 200-300k cap space is pretty remarkable.

Kind of forgot about his year with the Revs. He has 3 in 10 for us but they've all been right place right time goals. To me he just doesn't have the ability to create. He seems one step behind the defenders when he tries to take on.
Having a striker that can create some space for villa, a striker with some pace would be ideal.

I do kind of disagree with people who think the guys who have had the least play time or are the lowest paid will go.
Take a guy like RJ Allen for example who probably makes close to minimum you need him on the team. 1. He can provide started minutes and 2. He helped create cap space. 3. He has done a pretty damn good job lately.
Dunn is a young player who we can develop. I think he has a promising future and would like to see him on loan.

Honestly I'd hate to see anyone go. When it's 'your' team to root for all the guys and want them to be successful within the team.

Would not lose a moment of sleep over Wingert or Brovsky or Grabavoy going. They are overpaid and under skilled.

Same. All three are great teammates though and I think that has helped get this team over the hump.

Mullins is an absolute must to keep. Tough to find young, cheap talent in this league. Especially at that position. Even if he is nothing more than just a late game addition.

Now its possible Fitz might be a season long loan

I thought Fitzgerald had already been sent out on loan but he was at the autograph signing event at the Adidas store in Soho last night. So he's definitely in NYC right now at least.

uh man roman torres would be such an awesome pair with shay facey. Id shit my pants if we get him. If you never seen him play, watch this video. Such a good defender.

He isn't horrible, to be honest I prefer rodolph austin who was released from leeds. That guy is an enforcer and a leader. But my money is on him going to wigan.

Here's a good take on the situation from our "rivals":

Some of those castoffs are castoffs due to high salaries. You mentioned Ballouchy and he's on $140k. Grabavoy is on $120k. Brovsky is on $120k. Jacobson is on $180k. Wingert is on $145k. Josh WIlliams is on $125k. There are more as well...
