Crew Postmatch

obviously happy that we get the bye. But FFS. Why why why does our team do this to us. Should have won last weekend. Should have crunched Crew in the first 10 minutes. So many more Should've, would've, could'ves. I'm on the train home Guinness in hand. Should've brought an opener. Would've have made the drinking experience easier. I suppose that the harder you work for things the more glorious the result. Slange!
No opener, use the wedges on your keys. Bend each crimp up one at a time.

It's a different world without Mena or Hernandez back there. And I was really surprised with how comfortable Lurch was with both feet. I felt this sense of calm with him in net that I have never felt with Saunders. I am glad to have been wrong about my expectations with Lurch.

Eirik, Brillant, Chanot, Iraola and Mata were all on the same page. It was incredible to watch. Allen was the weak link.

Eirik needs to start, if only for his ability to play out of the back. He also stopped shots that we applaud Saunders for starting

Agree with all of it, but Allen also had some incredible long passes, particularly the one that led to our first goal.

Can you explain why?

As the 2-seed, we will play the highest ranked team advancing thru the knockout round. Since the 6 seed can not be the highest ranked team that advances thru the knockout round, we can't play them. If Montreal (5) and Philly (6) both advance, we could play Montreal, however. Same goes for Toronto (3) and DCU (4).

I like the new shape. Really impressed by Vieira's flexibility. It's hard to tell just how well it worked, or how Eirik played with the ball at his feet though, given that Columbus didn't press us at all. There's still some room for improvement (unsurprisingly) in this shape though – I don't know how well Pirlo and Bravo knew how to time their runs, and I think Iraola had a lot to learn about playing in that sweeper position. He was still trying to win the ball rather than contain and it got us into some hairy situations. Eirik's positioning was excellent though. It's also a ton of fun seeing Mendoza and Harrison play narrow, which they both seem to prefer, and seeing Villa that well supported. All in all, I wouldn't be mad if we played this system in the playoffs.

Maybe they didn't press us because of Lurch?? Another reason to start him.

Making the playoffs and all is great. But I still don't get why they took away salted nuts. Someone give me the YS number to text. It's unamerican, inhuman and an affront to good taste to not offer a fucking salted nut anywhere in the stadium.

If I had one criticism it's that Lurch needs to talk to his defensive line more. There were a few times they got in his way, not sure if it's because they were used to Saunders not getting the ball or because they were used to Saunders calling them off.

What a game. What a win.
Section 206 got plenty of love from the team. Free specialized chicken bucket scarfs and chicken buckets all around.
We want the cup!

My seats are down in 114b, so I get a good view of the Coop and am a frequent participant in your chants. Tonight I was wondering if that was a group decision to have that many people buy chicken buckets the last game, coincidence or a promo-it seemed like the first 6 rows were packed with the buckets. Now I know. Bravo front office, bravo.

That was alright! At 3-1 my mate was calling for shutting up shop, but I was yelling for more - glad we pushed forward and got a fourth. The pre-match field passes and Delta upgrade were fine as Cityzens freebies, but not the kind of things I would pay money for. Shout out to all the people in the Delta section who would look at us like weirdos when we started chants, or told us to sit down (when there was literally nothing going on).

I was in the bar afterwards with patchy memories of the game and it struck me how much this experience is about us joining as a community to go out and have a ball based around football. We'll stick together and have great time, regardless of score, but it's always good when the team plays well - not sure we would have been in the same circumstance if we lost. Onwards and upwards - bumming some random team in the playoffs here we come!
