Official Nycfc In The Media Thread 2015

Bedoya is not coming to MLS anytime soon. He's made multiple comments about the ridiculous contract setups, and he is doing well in France. I could see him in one of the big four leagues next.

You and I usually see eye to eye on just about everything here. I disagree with you on this one though.

I'm sure Bedoya is looking at the ridiculous amount of money Jozy Altidore just got to come back to MLS and re-thinking this. If I am Ale Bedoya, making $2 Million in France with up to a 75% tax rate, you don't at least answer the phone if MLS offers you $3 Million?

Is that all he's making over there? Obviously money talks, but he has been pretty outspoken about the silly parts of MLS, I couldn't see him doing it.

And, Jesus, how is it good for anyone to be overpaying our MNT players like that. Does MLS really think the answer to becoming a top league is to have the MNT players here? As NASL taught, its not the top salaries that improve play, its the median

It's all about eyeballs, butts in seats and sponsors.

There are probably 25-50 wide players in France who are as good or better than Ale Bedoya. But how many of them would interest US Soccer fans?

There's an old adage in sales - if a client wants a blue suit, sell them a blue suit. American soccer fans want to see Mix and Jozy and Ale and so on.

I don't have a problem with it. It's not like the league is paying for his salary Toronto is.

They won't pay the rest of their team less. They will be near the cap like everyone else. They like us will just spend much more on DP's. I think it's good for the game except Toronto is notoriously bad for TV the ratings so to have him and Bradley on that team may not bring the TV revenue as if he/they were on that team in Jersey.

Also going off of that Toronto is a huge market and is good for that market just not good for American TV ratings. The reality is its good for the MLS and the growth of this league so I am OK with it.

Now Garber PAY the fucking PLAYERS who aren't on the USMNT!!!!!!!!

The Jozy signing makes the Toronto game at Yankee Stadium a must attend for me. The fact is, there are 17 home games. I can't make all of them. Beforehand, Michael Bradley, while a draw, didn't convince me to attend the game. I would have given those away. But now I will attend.

You rate France that much below Italy? It's not significantly different based on coefficients, is it?

Bottom line is France, if I were a player, would likely be a more desirable location than anywhere in Italy below Europa slots (maybe below UCL).

Italy has really gone down. And they have a lot of clubs with money problems. If you're going continental outside the UCL, France is basically equal to me.

I agree with this. Although, I do think the Italian league has better coaches spread throughout than the French League. Coaches like Pioli, Donadoni, Di Francesco, Stramaccioni, and Gasperini are all relatively good coaches and a few have coached pretty big teams.

You will be very dissapointed if your expecting to see Jozy, Bradley and even Mix when Toronto comes to town. Due to brilliant scheduling by MLS, the aforementioned players will be out for Gold Cup duty.

With a 75% tax on your salary, you play in Italy before you pick France.

Claudio Reyna is at the Nets game and they were Just announcers (Of which Ryan Ruocco is one and could be the NYCFC play-by-play guy) just talked about NYCFC. David Villa is there as well.
