Official Nycfc In The Media Thread 2015

My perspective is that we all learn form our mistakes. We have a saying in Spanish and it goes like this " No tropiezes con la misma piedra" let me translate this " Do not trip over the same stone you fell over the first time" NYCFC is a young new football club. MLS league itself compared to other leagues throughout the world is a young league. I read an article this past summer from Soccer America as to the financial situation of the major most important and popular European clubs and, they are running on red. I really think that MLS is being managed well, it’s financially stable and they have studied and learned from the mistake the North American Soccer league made, who after a few years it was broke. I am confident that our club and MLS will be successful as more Americans fall in love with the beautiful game. Also FIFA despite the criticism that is run like a dictating power does have a lot of control over the sportsmanship or unsports- manship behavior of its members
I agree with a substantial bit of this, but some of this "learning curve" stuff really requires giving them a huge benefit of the doubt given how ridiculous some of their actions have been. So I can say maybe they get a pass on running a terrible event for he jersey reveal, or tweeting "Lampard scores again for MC!" the day after they announce his delay. And the stadium issue is fairly out of their control given NY politics, etc. But you shouldn't need an MBA or 25 years experience to avoid (1) lying about whether you signed a player, (2) promising the team will have its own personality and then issuing a copycat kit, or (3) failing to answer phone calls and emails from media who want to help publicize your team. These are not things you should need to learn from experience. I think Kreis knows how to build a team and have doubts about the basic competence --and integrity -- of the entire rest of the operation.
And also, none of this has to do with understanding NY, as some others have mentioned. Expecting to be treated with honesty, courtesy and respect is more or less the norm outside of NYC as well.

I must be in minority ( maybe only one) but i am confused at what people want in terms of media. What i have seen to far seems to be fine considering the team has has just 1 scrimmage game. I like the small minute or so clips of the training they had and the vines. Also the minute or so interviews with a few of the players. Yes Kreis has been on those like once, and thats fine. I dont need a freaking daily update from the coach of the workouts.

once the first official pre season game happens im sure we will get more Kreis and more of the players, and also at the end of the day i pretty much hear the same thing i have alwasy heard from other managers/players during pre season so there is nothing new really to be said ( oh yea we are still getting fit, still learning what the coach wants, it was good to get out there on the pitch etc).

as for "new york Media" do you guys mean like Daily news, NY post, SNY, YES, WFAN? or do you guys mean these online sites like bigapple soccer, empire soccer? i mean if NYCFC wants to give daily news or univision the interview then thats on them, they feel they will get a bigger reach talking to them rather than bigapplesoccer. They feel they will get a bigger reach showing games on YES/WFAN radio, and the rest is just meh. I have only seen these MLS based journalists on twitter complaining no one else. Granted, these are the guys that inform fans of the league probably from the beginning and being shunned like this rubs them the wrong way but if NYCFC dont want to give them anything thats NYCFC decision.

maybe because i didnt follow the league prior to NYCFC but having a presence in YES/WFAN/ and showing games in FOX Sports 1, ESPN, univision and giving them interviews will give more exposure than giving an interview to bigapplesoccer or whomever the mls journalist may be

and yes the whole lampard saga was a embarassing, though NYCFC probably didnt say anything since frank proably couldnt make up his mind for most of the time. but what could NYCFC have said when the decision was made? they couldnt "complain", i guess they though better to not talk about it then make it worse than it already is. This is NOT how to go about it but they failed there.

Does all of these PR errors prevent me from being a NYCFC fan? of course not, because i love my city and its teams ( well only those you see below in my sig :D) and we are not the first and sure as hell not the last team to have these mistakes done, other teams ( worldwide) have done much more errors and their fans are still loyal to the team since their love for a club outweighs the fallacies of the directors.

oh well, just my 2 cents.

Its weird that there have only been press releases and no interviews, other than the one we got from the guy who went to the lunch. Its like a whole management group of Richard Shermans

i think there isint much to say with pre season looming? and they sure as hell are not going to expose kreis to potential endless questions about lampard and being a "farm team" to man city.

i feel they wait till the ball starts rolling so there is something to talk about, that nycfc feels that matters, you know what happens on the pitch.

Player signings? plans? anything? Orlando sure has plenty to talk about.

press releases have been shown of players that have been signed ( sure not everysingle of them, but have been mentioned in twitter, thats a way to show official news in this day and age) videos for a few have been shown, i mean what more do the media want. others have been shown not every signing will have a press conference like villa or lampard had, they are DP's they get that treatment.

i got the news, awesome we got another player, now lets get one with training, is what i am thinking.

There is definitely a Manchester HQ for NYCFC, it was unveiled at the opening of the City Football Academy. It was described as a 'home from home' though, which would suggest the club is being run from New York.

Why would Glick have to move from Manchester to New York if the club was being run from Manchester anyway?

Your 2 cents are too long so instead of reading this I will just disagree with you... or agree with you. I don't know yet.

We have an office in NYC. I'm assuming it was just coincidence this picture was posted at the same time they are in Manchester. I was invited to visit the building/office when I fly up in March. I doubt it will all be staged with cardboard walls. Relax people.

I think Bleacher Report's coverage of NYC is going to be an ongoing problem. They gave us a C+, granted their opinion of us and $2.50 will get you on the train (yikes, I remember when my Dad would say that and it was only $1.25). It seems like whenever they write anything about our club it is 90% negative (they actually covered other teams' signings, but pretty much only talk about Lampard in ours). We are definitely going to have to prove ourselves on the pitch, because we are starting out as the most hated franchise...and our PR and fan services team isn't attempting to make our lives remotely easy.

I know that there may be Knicks fans here but it looks like we should all thumb through a copy of Reggie Miller's autobiography "I Love Being the Enemy".
