Official Nycfc In The Media Thread 2015

Glad to see the Daily News is planning on giving us some coverage. The Post has been running NYRB articles of late
and the Times isn't giving much (if any) MLS news at all.

MLS clubs have been traditionally very open to all sorts of media, bloggers, tweeters, websites. Sounds like NYCFC isn't interested and is only letting in big names into the press boxes. Thats going to go south real fast. Bad move by NYCFC in my book.

Looks to me like its fan blogs mad about press passes. The same fan blogs that skewer the club every time. How much coverage from media that actually mattered did red bull get even though they gave passes to these blogs? If they even did.

The comments I read were more about the fact that instead of receiving one plastic credential for the entire season, that media would have to apply for each game individually. In Ep 4, we spoke with the Third Rail and they mentioned that Dept of Homeland Security had a lot of influence and even in some cases control over what happens at the stadium because of its marquee stature. So I don't have a problem with it.

Personally, I will be honored to cover the team and don't have time to complain about jumping through a few hoops to do it. The key is building a relationship with the team and staff. That's more important to getting quality content than a season long credential.

with soccer in the US, anyone with access to the internet thinks they're a "journalist". I know people that took photos as a hobby and had press credentials at RBA

So I'm curious Blue, as a podcaster you aren't a big boy media. Will you be getting media credentials for games?

Sounds like SB Nation and others are saying they aren't getting them at all.

what specific priviliges do media credentials grant to an individual? I know you get closer access to the field if you're a photographer

Free entrance to games (no brainer), access to press box, post game coach and locker rooms for interviews. Also access to opposing teams as well. Some places even feed and booze up the media for free.

Villa missed Monday's practice because of a lingering groin injury, leaving his status for Wednesday's exhibition against the Houston Dynamo up in the air. According to coach Jason Kreis, Villa, 33, first noticed the pain in a Feb. 15 exhibition in Manchester. He then "tweaked it" Saturday during a draw with Orlando City FC.

"They're working on (Villa)," Kreis said, "we'll see about Wednesday."

Don't like that at all. I think it's safe to say Kreis knows what he's doing, but I sure as hell hope they sit him out the next 2 matches.

He also had another tweet that said the starting line up will be completely different and that the team that ended the game Saturday will get to play the first 60 minutes.
