Official Nycfc In The Media Thread 2015

What an incompetently written article: I'm not even counting the substance.

"It was an unseasonably cold day, much of which had vanished in the haze of a drenching summer drizzle."
Much of which what?

"Even though NYCFC had bought expensive, aging stars, perpetuating the loathed "retirement league" label."
That is not a sentence. It is a clause pretending to be a sentence.

ETA: Not a reflection on you Toe.
Leander sometimes does some good work, but I've never been really able to take his stuff seriously. I don't find him particularly insightful when he's right - it's mostly common sense. And when he's wrong, he's way, way off.

He's also as prone to bullshit group think as most mainstream soccer writers are these days.

If anyone finds an article or video from CNN international, please post it here. I was interviewed before the match by them (if they weren't lying). Asked me some odd questions like: What do you know about Abu Dhabi? If there was another team that had a stadium in New York City that was closer to you would you support them?

in before you end up in a report about how "clueless" americans are about world matters. i.e Abu Dhabi, human rights etc etc.

Yeah, after they interviewed me I thought they would use that. I picture a British commentator saying over some footage, "Now look at this American idiot caring about the world's game without any knowledge of world issues."

Holy shit. I just googled Abu Dhabi. Did anyone out there know that's like a real place? It's not just an empire in Aladdin.

BTW does anyone know where my college diploma is? Love American education.

(In fairness we don't know much about our own land and history either. We are equal opportunity ignoramuses. Or is that ignoramusi?)

I wish they asked me admit Abu Dhabi. I would have broken out into song and dance. Everything I know about Abu Dhabi I learned by the time I was 5.

Not for nothing, but the NYCFC signing Pirlo ad on the Facebook app had 107k likes this morning. I know they paid for it's placement, but that's pretty astounding, regardless.

Frank Lampard, Finally Set for New York City F.C. Debut, Is Eager to Make His Mark

Lampard, who watched New York City F.C.’s 3-1 loss to the Red Bulls on June 28 with Pirlo, commended Pirlo’s humility.

“You have to really want to work with the squad ethic and not walk in and say, ‘Here we are; it’s all going to change now,’ ” Lampard said. “Myself and Andrea will both come in with a good attitude and try and integrate seamlessly.”

That will not be easy — New York City F.C. already has a packed midfield, and David Villa occasionally drifts back.

Lampard said that while Coach Jason Kreis recognized his strengths — moving forward, creating chances and scoring goals, a role he excelled in with Chelsea and Manchester City — he was amenable to adjusting to suit the team’s needs.

“I’m not coming in saying, ‘This is my position; I need this around me,’ ” Lampard said.

Asked who would take free kicks — Pirlo is a renowned specialist — Lampard smiled and paused.

“I think Andrea,” he said. “Andrea can have the first one.”
